How to Prepare for Your Bridal Preview - A Guide for Brides-to-Be
Your Bridal Makeup Preview is such an exciting milestone in your wedding journey - it’s where your vision begins to come to life! To make the most out of this special appointment, there are a few things every Bride should keep in mind when prepping for their Bridal Preview.
Here’s how to show up prepared, confident, and ready to glow;
Wear White
It might seem simple, but wearing a white or ivory top (ideally in a similar neckline to your wedding dress) can make a big difference. This helps you and your artist see how the makeup tones work with your dress colour and overall Bridal aesthetic. It creates a more accurate picture of how you’ll look on your big day.
Coordinate with Your Hair Preview
If possible, schedule your Hair Preview for the same day as your Makeup Preview. Seeing your full Bridal look - hair, makeup, and attire-inspired-outfit - lets you envision the entire look more clearly. Plus, it’s a great way to test how the makeup and hairstyle photograph together in different lighting.
Bring Inspiration - But Be Strategic
Pinterest and Instagram are great sources of beauty inspiration, but try to bring images that align with your natural features. Look for looks on models or Brides with similar skin tones, eye colour, hair colour, and even face shape. This ensures the look you’re inspired by translates beautifully to you.
If possible bring images of makeup looks your artist has already created - this gives them a clearer idea of what resonates with you and what’s achievable in their creative expertise.
Create a Wedding Mood Board
Your Bridal Makeup should harmonise with your overall wedding aesthetic. Bringing a visual mood board to your Preview - whether printed or digital - helps your artist understand your full vision. Include details like your floral arrangements, colour palette, bridesmaids’ dresses, venue setting, and even décor inspiration. These elements can subtly influence the tones and textures chosen in your makeup look.
Be Honest, Be Open
This is your moment to communicate your comfort levels. Whether you love a full glam look or feel most yourself with minimal/natural/soft glam, your artist is there to collaborate with you. Be honest about your preferences and open to professional suggestions - your Preview is a safe space to experiment and refine. Trust the process - and your artist - and know that honesty and openness lead to the most stunning, authentic results.

BRIDAL SKIN PREP
It all begins with an idea.
The Louise Thomas Skincare Approach to Radiant, Wedding-Ready Skin
Your wedding day is one of the most photographed, cherished, and memorable days of your life. Every bride (and groom!) dreams of glowing, healthy skin for the big day—but achieving that effortless radiance doesn’t happen overnight. At Louise Thomas Skincare, we believe in a holistic, results-driven approach to pre-wedding skincare, guided by our three-pillar philosophy: Science, Nutrition, and Holistic Practices.
If you’re counting down the months to your wedding, now is the perfect time to invest in your skin health—not just for flawless photos, but to feel your most confident, radiant self.
6-12 Months Before: Laying the Foundations The earlier you start your pre-wedding skincare journey, the better your results. This is the perfect time to assess your skin’s current condition and introduce targeted treatments.
Book a Professional Skin Consultation Every skin is unique, and a one-size-fits-all approach won’t give you the best results. At our Louise Thomas Skincare Lounges (Dragon House & The Retreat at Jarrolds), we work closely with clients to analyse skin concerns such as breakouts, sensitivity, pigmentation, or dullness. From there, we create a bespoke, science-led treatment plan.
Introduce Active Ingredients Gradually Now is the time to introduce skin-transforming ingredients like: Vitamin C – For brightness and even tone. Niacinamide – To strengthen the skin barrier. Retinoids – To refine texture and smooth fine lines. Peptides & Ceramides – For deep hydration and repair.
Skin Nutrition from the Inside Out Your skin reflects your internal health, so nutrition plays a key role in pre-wedding prep. Focus on: Omega-rich foods (salmon, avocado, nuts) for hydration & elasticity. Antioxidant-packed vegetables & berries for protection & glow. Hydration! Increase your water intake & limit excessive caffeine/alcohol.
Holistic Practices: Stress & Skin Are Connected Weddings can be stressful! But stress triggers inflammation, breakouts, and dehydration. To counteract this: Prioritise deep sleep & relaxation (meditation, breathwork, gentle movement). Regularly massage your face to boost circulation & lymphatic drainage. Introduce adaptogens like Ashwagandha to balance stress hormones.
3-6 Months Before: Deep Skin Transformation By now, your homecare routine should be consistent, but this is the time to supercharge your skin treatments.
In-Clinic Treatments This is where our professional facials come in! Regular facials tailored to your skin type will help deeply nourish and refine your complexion. Our signature Louise Thomas Skincare Bespoke Facial works to correct and rebalance the skin using a mix of: Resurfacing techniques for texture & glow. Cold plasma for reducing inflammation. LED light therapy to boost healing & calm redness.
Avoid Skincare Pitfalls Don’t introduce new harsh actives too close to the wedding (potential irritation). Avoid over-exfoliating (which can weaken your skin barrier). Say NO to last-minute treatments you haven’t tried before!
1-2 Months Before: Locking in the Glow At this stage, it’s all about skin maintenance & hydration.
Focus on Barrier Protection Keep your skincare simple yet effective with our capsule skincare range, featuring: The Hydrator – To deeply nourish and plump the skin. Hero Serum #2 – Soothe & Calm – Perfect for reducing any last-minute irritation. SPF Every Day! Protect your skin to prevent pigmentation or dryness.
Prioritise Beauty Sleep Your skin regenerates while you sleep, so aim for 7-9 hours a night. Try a silk pillowcase to prevent irritation and ensure you wake up glowing.
1 Week Before: Wedding Week Radiance Boost
Final Facial for Ultimate Glow Book your last pre-wedding facial with us, about 7-10 days before the big day. This will allow enough time for skin to settle and look its best.
Hydration, Hydration, Hydration! Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins. Use a hydrating mask for an added moisture boost. Avoid too much alcohol, salt, or caffeine (these dehydrate skin).
Limit Screen Time Less blue light exposure = less eye strain, puffiness & dullness. Try a digital detox in the evenings leading up to the wedding!
Your Wedding Day: Flawless, Glowing Skin By following this holistic, results-driven approach, your skin will look naturally radiant, hydrated, and glowing—no heavy makeup needed.
